The Mexe Cone Penetrometer is a lightweight apparatus for rapidly measuring in-depth resistance to penetration. The dial indicates in terms of California Bearing Ratio (CBR).
Developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence it is a robust, reliable and lightweight instrument used throughout the world by both commercial and military establishments.
The instrument is primarily intended for fine-grained soils and when used as intended measurements correlate closely with CBR values measured in-situ with conventional equipment.
Readings are taken on the dial at 75mm intervals during penetration, to a maximum of 600mm. The CBR measurement range is from 0 to 15% CBR. The dial reads from 0-300, with 60 divisions, each approximately 11.12N(1.13Kg). Full deflection is approximately 667N.
The Penetrometer is supplied complete with carrying case, containing 1x CBR cone, 1 x Cone Index cone, 1 x top rod and 3 x 150mm extension rods, tools and operating instructions.
Weight (including case), 5.5kg
