This unit is used to determine the presence of faults, voids, cracks etc., within in-situ or pre-cast concrete. It can also be utilised for the long term monitoring of structures subject to environmental conditions.
Data concerning the homogeneity of the concrete is obtained by generating pulses of sound into the concrete and measuring the time the sound takes to travel through the material from the transmitter probe to the receiver probe. It is also possible to get indicative data of the modulus of dynamic elasticity, and strength of the concrete.
The instrument is microprocessor controlled and has the following features and functions:
Ultrasonic pulse velocity measurement
Distance between the two probes measurement
Time taken by the ultrasonic pulse to cross the material under test measurement
Young modulus measurement
Calibration of "zero time value”
Programmable transmission pulse frequency (1, 2, 3, 4 Hz)
Programmable pulse amplitude (250, 400, 750, 1000 Volts)
Memory file size of 200 values for each measurable quantity
Link to a PC through a serial port (RS 232)
link management program is supplied with the instrument
Link to serial printers to print the stored measurements
Automatic store of the measured values
Programmable time correction factor to take into account environmental factors such as humidity
Measurable time: 0 to 9999,99 µs - res. 0,1 µs
Power: rechargeable battery 12 V D.C.
The unit comprises:
- Electronic tester with microprocessor in a portable case
- 2 probes at 55 KHz with connection cables
- 2 outlets for connection to the oscilloscope
- Calibration cylinder
- Battery charger + grease coupling tube
Dimensions: 300 x 240 x 160mm
Weight: 4kg
