Due to the fully variable speed limit the SL512 can perform a wide variety of tests such as Triaxial (both Quick Undrained and Effective Stress), CBR (to BS and ASTM standards), Marshall Tests and many more.

The microprocessor control has a unique rapid approach function. To position the ram quickly, the UP key is held pressed. After 2 seconds, the ram speed will accelerate to 50mm/minute. When the Up key is released, the speed will revert to 5mm/minute to avoid damaging the sample.
